In using google ads, ads are given a quality score. There are often a lot of misunderstandings about what quality score is based on, so lets go over it very simply. Quality score is measured on a one to ten scale, with ten being better than a one. Let's imagine that you got a 5 on your quality score, so now you would be wondering how you can improve it.
Quality score is calculated on three components:
- Expected Clickthrough Rate
- Ad Relevance
- Landing Page
To improve the clickthrough rate you can do things such as edit your ad text to make it more compelling, highlight benefits of your company, increase specificity, and give calls to action. In improving your ad relevance things can be done such as using your keywords in the ad and matching the ad phrasing to what a user might actually search. Lastly, if you are looking to improve your landing page you can make your website more mobile friendly, make sure that the ad is consistent with what the landing page offers, make the landing page more user friendly, and deliver content and information to the user through your landing page. These are just a few ideas, but all will help you in improving your quality score.
