There are many factors that contribute to building a successful website and allowing users to more easily access your material, one of these factors is link building. Link building is the process of having links that route others to your site, as well as external links that might connect users with others.
- Links provide authority to a page.
- Links can also provide a great deal of visibility to a site that you might not otherwise get.
Let me give you an example
I run the online portion of my family's dog breeding business, I have a website for it, however, I don't have any google ads running for it that would drive people to my site. The main way that I drive people to my site is by using links on Facebook or on other breeding websites (Gooddog, AKC, etc.). Other breeding sites are often location based so when someone goes on the AKC site searching for a boxer puppy near them, my profile shows up with the link to my website. Users then click that link to learn more about our program and from there I get buyers. Link building in this way allows me to receive the benefit of reaching customers I wouldn't normally reach, and customers that are closer to my target area.
Other ways that link building helps is through:
- Increasing topical authority
- Getting more high value traffic
- and helping you rank higher with google.
